Using the tool

The CO₂ Storage Licence Tracker lets you track and review CO₂ storage permits by type and status—including under review, granted, and denied—across multiple regions.

There are two types of permit

• Exploration Permit: Allows site surveys and studies to assess suitability for CO₂ storage, but not injection or storage itself.


• Exploitation Permit: Authorizes injection and permanent storage of CO₂, covering site operation and closure.
